As cases of rape and gender based violence increases by the day in Liberia, It became necessary to raise awareness among beneficiaries who are one of the vulnerable segments and living as invisible being in communities. The workshop brought together one hundred and fifty physically disabled families, who are resident of more than 30 communities in Montserrado County.

The one day dialogue focuses on helping families with disability not to compromise rape and gender based violence cases in their various communities, how they can protect their younger ones in educating them at home on SGBV and other harmful traditional practices with in our society. The workshop was aimed at joining hands with the government, International partners and other CSOs in bringing an end to rape and other forms of violence against women and girls with particular emphases on families with disabilities.

The workshop which provided tips on pathway to justice and protection was facilitated by Mr. Tamba Johnson, the Founder and COE of the HE FOR SHE Crusaders Liberia.

The dialogue concluded with a special remark form DEKAP-Liberia Executive Director Madam Helena Wenneh along with an interactive section with questions and answers from participants and facilitator.

Dekap-Liberia Provides gift of food items to 150 disabled families, their children and orphans.

As Covid-19 pandemic and its restrictions continues to worsen the appalling condition of the already poor families with physical disabilities, their children and orphans who are living in communities as invisible beings, we are heartily grateful to UN women-Liberia, through the Government’s Emergency food distribution Program and the World Food Program (WFP) for the donation of one hundred (100) 25kg bags of rice, 10 bags of 50kg bags of beans and 50 gallons of agro oil which we distributed to one hundred fifty (150) families.

The donated food items which were received September 4th, 2020 was distributed to families with physical disabilities and orphans who are beneficiaries of our program. For these poor & slum children including their parents, all this was a dream come true. At least they will take a time off the streets where they go daily to beg alms in order to feed.

Not been able to fend for themselves and their children, these days have been the hungriest time of their lives.

We are happy for your Intervention!
